Giving Random Encouragement

Every teenager needs encouragement when learning to drive. Without encouraging words along the way, it's easy to get discouraged and stop enjoying the learning process. Most new drivers understand it's going to take a while to build the new skills they're learning. Throughout the process, most teens really want their parents’ approval along the way. To make sure they relax and feel supported throughout the drive, try saying a few of the following encouraging words as needed to help boost motivation or confidence:

  • “It's okay, brush it off, you're learning."
  • "You're making progress, keep at it."
  • "Most drivers find that difficult, we'll keep practicing."
  • "You're doing great, keep it up."
  • "Alright, let's take a deep breath. Good, now let's keep going, you'll get this."
