How to Stay in Control in a Skid

What if you do everything right and your vehicle still goes into a skid, remember these words: "look and steer where you want to go."

• By focusing your eyes where you want to go, you will automatically "steer into the skid" - which is exactly what most of us were taught when we first learned to drive.
• If you just remember to look where you want to go, you will automatically steer into the skid.
• Whether you're sliding towards a ditch, another car, a telephone pole or whatever, don't look at it. Don't focus on where you could crash. Instead, look and steer where you want to go. That's your best chance of controlling a skidding vehicle.
